Adapting reading or learning material If you require written words to be modified, such as making text bigger, modifying the font colour, or altering line spacing and paragraphs, the RNIB have provided information on how to do this for computerised documents. This condition may be the result of a visual perceptual difficulty or a learning disability such as dyslexia. The line-finder is simply placed upon the page to be read to mask out unwanted text. This is particularly useful if you have dyslexia. Page markers are small clips that are inserted into the spine of a book; they are designed as bookmarks and to keep the pages in an open position when pressing on the centre of the clip using your thumb. The product allows for one-handed reading. Book rests and lighting If you find it difficult to hold a newspaper, book, or magazine because you experience pain or have limited dexterity or motor skills, you may find it beneficial to place the reading material on a book rest, music stand or copyholder. In some circumstances, using a cantilever table with a bed or with a chair can be a suitable alternative to book rests, music stands or newspaper holders, as long as the table has a lip to prevent the book from sliding off. Models that can clamp to a convenient support such as a chair are also available. The free standing book holders can often be adjusted at different angles, can accommodate different thicknesses of book and may fold away for storage.

Look out for a public footpath sign on the left and turn on to a farm road. Just before this road turns sharply left take the public footpath that forks off to the right and goes uphill through a wood. Cross another stile, follow the path across open hillside, then cross yet another stile and turn left on to the road. Just before the road bends sharply left, cross the road, go over a stile and follow this path towards a hill.
Continue to find the steps on the left leading through the ramparts of an Iron-Age fort to the summit of Mam Tor. From here trace your steps back to the road.

This part of the moor a treasure trove for railway ramblers and industrial archaeologists: Jeff Vinter December Carmarthen to Aberystwyth, Wales. Two issues that Mott Macdonald will have to address are the Ystwyth Trail, which uses the old trackbed between Aberystwyth and Tregaron, and the Gwili Railway, which runs trains over 4 miles of the old line at the south end — and has ambitions to double that mileage with extensions to Llanpumpsaint to the north and Carmarthen to the south.
Chris Parker and Richard Rees December Blaenau Ffestiniog to Bala, Gwynedd. The following report has been adapted from the Welsh Highland Railway’s unofficial ‘Isengard’ website: A feasibility study has been commissioned and will begin at Trawsfynydd station yard and continue to a roadside terminus at the summit of the Cwm Prysor Pass where the A road has taken over the trackbed. However, track terminates at Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Station siding and there is little ballast either.

Christchurch, New Zealand Pat Vincent was truly a renaissance man. Not only was he an athlete, but he was a favored educator, professional musician and a constant comic relief. Born in New Zealand on January 6, as the youngest of nine children, Vincent’s asthma was present even in his earliest years, and it forced his family to move to the dryer climate of Christchurch. Outside of the classroom, Vincent was the Captain of the Canterbury Province rugby team that took possession of the coveted Ranfurly Shield in This is the greatest prize in NZ provincial rugby.
Vincent had been overlooked by the All Black selectors on multiple occasions, but he was extremely popular with players and the public, largely because he was a team man. The first match was won by NZ, but the Springboks hadn’t lost two tests in a row since , and their streak would continue.

History[ edit ] London Metropolitan Archives in its current form is essentially an amalgamation of four separate bodies. London County Record Office[ edit ] Until , London was still the area within the walled city; to the south of the river was Surrey and Kent and to the north of the city’s limits was Middlesex. These areas, however, had become densely populated and, given the sphere of influence of the city, traditional boundaries were no longer practical.
The County of London was created and controlled by the newly formed London County Council , which took over many of the duties of its predecessor the Metropolitan Board of Works. It was the records of these bodies and similar groups such as the London School Board and Metropolitan Asylums Board that would form the nucleus of the London County Record offices holdings, which were based at County Hall on the south bank of the River Thames.
As well as the official records that the council generated, they also began to accept deposits of records fundamental to London’s history, such as copies of memorials from the Middlesex deeds register, diocesan and parish records and records of charities such as the Foundling Hospital.
